Soft Tissue Fillers
When soft tissue fillers first became available 30 years ago, the initial product was collagen derived from cow hides. Skin tests were required to be certain the patient would not have an allergic reaction, and the results typically lasted only 3 months at best. These collagen-based fillers were used around the mouth to fill in lines and creases.
Now there is a new generation of fillers that have become FDA approved over the last several years. These products can be used not only to fill lines and wrinkles, but actually help rejuvenate, volumize and restore the face to a natural, more youthful appearance. These new fillers do not require skin testing, have much greater longevity, and are very safe. With so many fillers now available, it can be hard for patients to decide which one to choose. During your consultation at Manhattan Beach Dermatology, your skin will be evaluated to determine which filler or combination of fillers will best address your concerns. These soft tissue fillers include
Belotero,
Juvéderm Ultra, Juvéderm Ultra Plus, and
Juvéderm Voluma XC,
Radiesse,
Restylane and Perlane, and
Sculptra.
