Seborrheic Dermatitis
Seborrheic Dermatitis is a common condition similar to dandruff. It affects the scalp, face (around the nose and eyebrows), behind the ears and sometime the center of the chest. Scaly red patches can develop in these areas and become itchy at times. Seborrheic dermatitis is considered to be an acquired allergic reaction to a yeast that is normally present on the skin. Treatments are aimed at killing the yeast with antifungal creams and shampoos as well as reducing the inflammation with cortisone creams.
