Actinic Chelitis
Actinic chelitis is a precancerous condition of the lips due to chronic sun exposure. Patients with actinic chelitis have dry, non-healing, cracked lips, often with some areas of white discoloration. These lesions require treatment because they can turn into squamous cell carcinoma of the skin or oral mucosa (lining of the inner mouth). Actinic chelitis can be treated similarly to AKs on other parts of the body.
