Keratosis Pilaris
Keratosis pilaris (KP) are unsightly tiny, scaly, red bumps on the back of the arms and sometimes on the thighs. KP is often a genetic condition that runs in families, and is caused by severely dry skin that blocks the hair follicles and causes irritation around the follicle. Though a very common condition, it is difficult to treat.  Multiple hydrating creams, mild cleansers, cortisone and chemical peels can be used to exfoliate and dissolve away the retained keratin.  There is no cure for KP, but these treatments can improve the appearance of the condition.
